THE FIRST PROJECT YEAR Autumn 2016- Spring 2017

Introducing our project “Environmentally Friendly Cranberries and Innovative Tablets” to our school staff.

September 16, 2016

Organising Erasmus+ team, introducing the work plan to the teachers (mother tongue, maths, science, art, handicraft, English) involved.

Choosing the project group of students – form 5., 6., 7., and 8.

September 26th, 2016

The aims of the project were introduced to our project group students. The activities and responsibilities of the 1st project year were discussed. Students write text about our school.

October 3rd, 2016

Introducing our project on the school Erasmus+ project display (project objectives, short summary, partner school descriptions, etc).

October 17th, 2016

A project info-stand to introduce the countries taking part in this project was put up. All  posters were created by students 5.  in their Art lessons.

October 20th, 2016

Small literature exhibitions in school library were put up by our librarian. The exhibition introduces books by the authors of different countries involved in project.

October 13-15,  2016

First project meeting in Voru.

November 22th, 2016

Letter for our subject teachers was sent in order to collect the ideas for planning the field trip in spring. Our school decided to go to Teiču purvs.

December 2th – 8th, 2016

Working on the project at eTwinning: making short intros by voki.com with students. 

January 2017

  • Working on eTwinning project (a table filled with the information, a video film, 10 photos that best describe our school).

  • Downloading apps to schools new tablets.

  • Sending a letter to our subject teachers (engaged in the project) and asking them to start compiling instructions handouts on their activities which could be used during the field trip in March.

  • January 31th, meeting Subject teachers are compiling instructions handouts on their activities both meant for classroom and field trip.

  • Informing students about the field trip. Forming 6 groups of four – five students for the field trip.

  • Downloading the necessary apps.

  • March 10th, video meeting about Erasmus + project.

  • March 14th, meeting with the teachers taking part in the field trip. Getting things ready.

  • March 31th, Field trip to Niedraju-Pilkas bog. Integrating math, science, literacy, IT (sound recordings of birds, video films, photos, apps)

Collecting natural materials during field trip.

Solving different tasks connected with the project subjects

Integrating formal and non-formal learning in different subjects (math, science, literacy, art, craft, English).

April 2017

  • Article to our school homepage, Latvian web pages e-skola.lv and Estonian newspaper “Õpetajate Leht” about the Field Trip.

  • Renewing the project info-stand with the material of the Field Trip.

  • Classroom activities in project connected subjects after the field trip. Creating a acrostic in Latvian and translating them into English, calculating formula in maths, herbarium picture in art, discussions on field trip tasks and handouts in biology and science.

  • Writing short summaries on each field trip task.

  • April 5th-April 9th 2017

Taking part in the second Project Meeting in Piacenza, Italy.  Exchange of experiences. Evaluation of the work plan (Project Homepage, Introducing Project Poster, eTwinning, Facebook, Feedback questionnaire for teachers and students. Introducing the project work for the second year (Drama, Christmas Charity Sale, Open Educational Resources (OER), Ready-made apps).

  • Working at eTwinning: arranging the materials about the first Field Trip (photos, videos, summary, descriptions of the tasks).

May 2017

  • Organising exhibitions of students' works at schools (inspired by a field trip).

  • Evaluation of the 1st project year: Filling in the teachers’ and students’ feedback questionnaires.

June 2017

  • Meeting project teachers. Conclusions of 1st project year.
  • Sending materials for E book.

  • Adding materials to project homepage.

  • Planning seconds project year.
